Common questions
Do I need the tenant's permission?+
Yes. You must have the applicant's authorisation and tell them their information will be shared with Centrix. Most landlords include this in their tenancy application form. Criminal record checks also need the person's consent, which is recorded through CheckPlease.
What's in the tenant credit check?+
The Centrix credit score and risk odds, defaults, District Court judgments, insolvencies, company affiliations, known addresses and recent credit enquiries, plus a search of Tenancy Tribunal orders published in the last 3 years. Tribunal results are likely matches by name only, so always check the order details.
How long does a criminal record check take?+
After payment, our partner CheckPlease emails you a link to log in and complete identity verification and consent. Once that's done, the Ministry of Justice result usually follows within 3 working days.
How long can I view the report?+
Your private report link works for 30 days. After that the personal details are deleted from our systems.
